Falling Water - The Slow Down (Outhouse Music)

Summer’s come and gone, Fall is kicking in hard and fast. Cold weather, bad luck, and lost love can leave you questioning your dreams. The Slow Down by Falling Water is a beautiful antidote to hard times—a soundtrack to hold your hand while walking down a cold, dark road. Falling Water is the new project by singer-songwriter Mark Rechler, who’s spent the last decade as a composer and performer for the irresistible funk band Circus Mind. But while Mark was rocking the New Orleans-inflected good-time beats, his true musical passions were percolating in darker, more complex worlds. The songs piled up—in half-recorded demos and ditties that spoke of sad stories, lost directions and dreams unfulfilled. No longer able to hold back the waters, the dam burst forth in 2010 with the realization of Falling Water, featuring Dave Diamond on Drums, Chris Crosby on Bass, Bill Titus on Guitar and anchored by Rechler’s impassioned vocals and pounding, yet melodic keyboards. Rechler says the sessions became more than a recording project—in the end, “a cathartic outlet for my negative feelings”--emblematic of the most vulnerable and recognizable frailties of the human condition. In many ways, Falling Water represents the culmination of a lifetime spent loving and making music. Mark Rechler has cut his musical teeth with some of the music world’s true greats—sharing the stage with members of the Neville Brothers, The Meters, Soulive, Rebirth Brass Band, and Bob Marley’s band. He has made music for Discovery Networks, Comedy Hall of Fame and Animal Planet. He has played piano since he was a puppy & is a fan of classic keyboards as well as high tech synths with lots of knobs. Falling Water is an oasis for people seeking music that digs deep into dark spaces, but still manages to elevate the spirit.
