Chris Weaver - Standing In Line (American Roots Records)
Keep a look out for the Chris Weaver Band because they are inspiring crowds all over the country with their debut album, Standing In Line. Originally hailing from West Virginia, Chris first began to realize his talent as a singer/songwriter and guitar player with his father who was in bands throughout his childhood. Influenced by Joe Cocker, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty and The Band, Weaver produces an energetic, passionate, down to earth sound, resonating with fans of all ages and circumstances, begging vocal comparisons to John Hiatt and Darius Rucker. Weaver got a phenomenal start to performing with an opening gig for country star Patty Loveless and working with distinguished songwriters while in Nashville, including Harley Allen and Stephony Smith. Standing In Line employs a classic American rock-n-roll and blues feel with a splash of country. “Standing in Line,” the title track, is an honest self reflection of Weaver’s own position in life as a musician who takes the humble stance of re-ferring to himself as just one of the many who are “waiting in line” to break. Their most obvious single, “So Damn Beautiful,” has a softer rock groove and a vocal performance that could swell the heart and dry the tears of any girl in town. A more melancholy side of life is showcased in “Everything I Used To Be“and “Blues Soul Rock and Roll” highlights Reed Pittman’s ability to wail away on the keyboard while Weaver’s raspy pipes remind us of how music can bring together even the most opposing individuals (“the only thing we’ve got in common is blues, soul, rock and roll”). Five members make up the Nashville grown band with Weaver on vocals, Matt “Ice” Iceman, drums, Cornelius “Corn” Perry, bass, Josh Waters, guitar, and Ben Owens, guitar. Weaver recently inked a licensing deal with the NFL for this year’s football season with a song he wrote that was recorded by American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks and produced by Cool and Dre. Chris is currently working with former Jimmy Buffett and Glen Frey guitarist and legendary producer, Josh Leo (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Bad Company, Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd). Standing In Line is a great album destined to have a special place in the hearts of all Rock N Roll Blues lovers. Catch the Chris Weaver Band on tour this fall.
