Publicity

When promoting and publicizing your new album or tour, the more marketing efforts you have working together, the better. Publicity offers your release more credibility via subjective reviews from music critics, along with exposure to those writers and the music consuming public. Unlike radio promotion where an artist can usually count on some level of instant satisfaction via airplay, publicity results are often slower to come and require more diligence. In that sense, publicity is a marathon, and we suggest a lead time of 1 to 3 months as a result because it’s not uncommon for an artist’s first review to appear two months (or longer) after the campaign begins. But the rewards are worth your patience as publicity can sometimes make or break a career. Powderfinger has scored publicity hits in such notable publications as Aquarian Weekly, Big TakeoverDownbeat, Goldmine, Maverick, Music Connection, No Depression, Relix, and Rootstime.

Powderfinger Publicity has worked with a broad range of artists from around the country, including The Asteroid No.4, Bernie Worrell (Talking Heads, Parliament-Funkadelic), Big Funk (Joe Lavano, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Hargrove), Deep Blue Something, The Fisher Brothers (Heart), Girls Guns & Glory, Greg Ginn (Black Flag), Jim’s Big Ego, Jimmy Destri (Blondie), The Quarter After, Lipbone Redding, Matt Angus, Melodrome, Bill Evans, Tim Reynolds (Dave Matthews Band), and hundreds of others.

"Even when it is not clear what kind of music you’re listening to, it’s a compelling—even intoxicating—mix.”Elmore Magazine on “Dragonfly” by Long Tall Deb and Colin John

"One of those high octane, traditional bluegrass crews that had us at hello, this bunch shows why they can so easily shift gears from the back porch to the symphony stage, they are simply a bunch of crack players that have a sight that favors organics. The perfect set to play for people you turn up their noses at bluegrass, this crew will make converts with ease. Killer stuff throughout.”Midwest Records on "Kentucky Bound” by Misty Mountain String Band

“Much of the album jogs along at a fairly gentle pace, but hots up as things progress towards a terrific finale…”Maverick Magazine on “John Street” by the Mike Montrey Band

"Retro without pounding its chest on the matter, this is a smoking set that guitar fans will take note of. Leading a combo with an effortless sound, this is the date you know you've been looking for. Well done.”Midwest Records on “Point of Reference” by Kingsley Durant

“This time, though, you can hear strains of bluegrass, worldbeat, Americana, rock ‘n’ roll, blues and funk. Call it Jam-Grass with African and Louisiana influences. “Daphne Lee Martin’s love life is an open book on Scared Fearless, the luxuriously furnished fifth album of dark, undulating folk and blues elegance from the Connecticut songstress.”Elmore Magazine on “Scared Fearless” by Daphne Lee Martin

“Greg’s not outlining a dystopia, he’s just having some fun with the inevitable, which is why his de-evolution ultimately leads him to the source of all life, “The Water”, to which, he seems to suggest, we’re destined to return.”Offbeat Magazine on “Amoebotics” by Greg Schatz

“De rootsrockers en Americana-nummers op deze plaat zijn stuk voor stuk melodieus en hitgevoelig.”Rootstime on “The Things You Left Behind” by Frank Migliorelli
